August J. Vona, 67

August J. Vona, 67, of Oswego, passed away September 22, 2010 at his home.

He was born in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Thomas R. Vona and Mary L. (Pileri) Vona of Oswego.

Augie was a graduate of Oswego High School and went on to graduate from Mount Saint Mary’s University where he received a degree in Education and then graduated from Cornell in the Hotel and Restaurant Program.

August owned and operated Admiral Woolsey’s restaurant for over 20 years. He was a passionate restaurateur and food connoisseur. He enjoyed traveling, exotic cars and was a Yankee baseball fan. He was also an Army Veteran and served in Vietnam.

Surviving besides his mother, is his brother, Thomas R. (Mary Jane) Vona and his sister Josephine A. Augie was loved and will be missed. Our memories of his witty conversations, humor and smile we hold dear in our hearts and cherish the time we were able to spend together.
