Author and Illustrator Team of Mary Jane and Herm Auch Visit Granby

Granby Elementary School welcomed a special visit last week by famed husband and wife author and illustrator team, Mary Jane and Herm Auch.

Granby Elementary School welcomed a visit by Mary Jane and Herm Auch. Mary Jane is the author of both chapter books and the author/illustrator of many picture books for children and her husband Herm is the illustrator for several of her books.

The Auchs stopped by the school to visit with students in the grades three through six.

Several small group presentations gave students an opportunity to spend time with the Auchs and learn about the inspiration for many of their books and the how they work cooperatively to generate the illustrations that bring their literary works to life.

Mary Jane spoke about the writing process and the importance of developing characters and an interesting plot along with creating a problem for the main character so that readers maintain an interest in the story.
