FULTON, NY – The CNY Arts Center is offering the next in its monthly series of Author Spotlights.
The center offers the spotlight series to help promote writing by local authors and to encourage other writers to pursue publishing their work.
On July 17 at 7 p.m., local author and writing instructor, Jim Farfaglia, will share excerpts from his latest book of poems, People, Places and Things: The Powerful Nouns of My Life.
During the program, Farfaglia will talk about his process of writing the book’s poems, which were written to acknowledge and give thanks for the various people, places and things that have influenced his life.
“I have two goals for the evening,” Farfaglia said. “To share how I create poems that are based on real-life events and to encourage those in attendance to consider writing as a form of self-expression. I’d like to help people feel less intimidated by poetry.”
To facilitate the event, local author and teacher Carolyn Dougherty has agreed to serve as the emcee for the evening.
Dougherty will oversee the evening program by asking Farfaglia questions, soliciting questions from the audience and introducing poems from the book that Farfaglia will read.
“I am honored Jim asked me to be a part of this event. He has provided so much support for me and other local writers, and I am grateful to return the favor,” she said.
The program is open to the public.
Refreshments will be served.
The CNY Arts Center, 357 State St., is located in the State Street Methodist Church’s annex.
