Authorities Locate Drowning Victim

UPDATE 1 a.m. Aug. 8

On 08/08/16 at about 12:23 a.m. the body of Brandon L. Gould was recovered from the shoreline of Lake Ontario approximately 0.6-mile north of where he was last seen swimming on 08/06/16.

The incident remains under investigation.

UPDATE 08/07/2016 3:30 p.m.

The continued search efforts for missing swimmer, Brandon L. Gould, on Lake Ontario off the shores of Brennan Beach in the town of Richland have been unsuccessful.

Future search plans are being evaluated and are undetermined at this time.

Those participating in today’s (Aug. 7) search were the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, the New York State Police, the Oswego County Coordinator’s Office, Onondaga Air One, the Oswego County Dive Team, N.O.C.A., the U.S. Coast Guard, the Canadian Coast Guard and the following fire departments: Phoenix, Minetto, Parish, Pulaski, Sandy Creek, Hastings, Mexico and West Amboy.

PULASKI – At about 7:02 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 6), members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office along with Pulaski and Sandy Creek fire departments, N.O.C.A., NYS Police, the Oswego County Dive Team, U.S. Coast Guard and Onondaga County Air One responded to Lake Ontario off the shore of Brennan Beach in the town of Richland for a possible drowning.

Witnesses report they observed Brandon L. Gould, 34, of Pennellville, swimming when he began to struggle in the rough waters, submerged a couple of times and then was not seen again.

The immediate search for Mr. Gould was unsuccessful, ending at about 8:53 p.m.

It will resume this morning (Aug. 7).
