Barclay and Assembly Republican Conference Announce Launch of New “STOP GOVERNMENT WASTE” Website

Assemblyman Will Barclay (R,C,I?Pulaski) announced today that he and the Assembly Republican Conference have launched a new website, www.stopgovernmentwasteny.com, as part of their ongoing effort to rein in excessive state spending and the misuse of taxpayer dollars in Albany.

“With our state facing a potentially larger budget gap this year, the Republican Conference and I have decided to launch this site so New Yorkers will know how their tax dollars are being spent,” said Barclay.

The site will allow New Yorkers to anonymously report any wasteful government spending they have witnessed or have become aware of. All reported incidents of wasteful government spending will be publicized by the Assembly Republican Conference, which will seek a non-partisan legislative response to ensure greater fiscal accountability in Albany. The website features an online mechanism to report known instances of state government waste directly; a listing of several recent examples uncovered by the media of state government waste and misuse of taxpayer dollars; and an outline of how government waste leads to higher taxes.

“This website is a step in the right direction toward bringing greater accountability to state government spending. I would encourage all New Yorkers to get involved with this project to promote greater fiscal responsibility in Albany,” concluded Barclay.
