Buffalo, NY – The Oswego State women’s basketball team were overpowered by Buffalo State on the road Friday night, falling 86-49 to the Bengals.
With the loss, the Lakers drop to 6-12, 2-9 in the SUNYAC while Buffalo State improves to 14-3, 9-1.
Jenn Robbins scored a team-high 13 points in the contest, including 3-for-5 (60.0%) from beyond on the arc. Lauren Nunziato missed double digits by just a points, tallying nine points on 4-of-7 (57.1%) shooting from the floor.
Haley Witchella grabbed a team-best six rebounds while Robbins, Sarah Hansen and Heather Hebert each collected five boards.
The Lakers held a 7-6 advantage at 16:14 of the first half before the Bengals ripped off a 14-2 run over a nearly five minute span.
Oswego scored the game’s next basket to cut the margin to nine but it was the final time the Lakers would be within single digits for the remainder of the game.
The women’s basketball team will return to action with another road SUNYAC tilt at 2 p.m. on Saturday when it faces Fredonia.
Oswego defeated the Blue Devils 73-60 at home in early January and will look to complete the season sweep.
