OSWEGO, NY – Betty Paternoster, 85, of Oswego, passed away Thursday March 15, 2012, at Oswego Hospital.
Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Mildred (Knopp) Wood.
She worked as a sales consultant and interior design consultant for Woody’s Rug Mart in Oswego.
She was a member of the “Bunco Club” and a volunteer at Loretto Heights Nursing home.
Betty sewed doll clothes for Dexterville Seventh Day Adventist Church and helped to clean and mend the dolls to be given to needy children.
Surviving are her children, Diane (Dave) Martin, Darlene (Ronald) Dunsmoor, Tom (Kathleen) Frey, Tim (Theresa) Frey all of Oswego and David (Arron) Paternoster of Jacksonville, Fla.; her grandchildren, Nichol Martin, Chad Martin, Scott Dunsmoor, Melissa Dunfee, Kristi Haynes, Michelle Griffin, Miranda Myers, Stephanie Frey, Matthew Frey, Amanda Frey, Noah and Lily Paternoster; great-grandchildren, Alexus Dunsmoor, Emily Haynes, Meghan Dunfee, Dana Griffin, Tyler Griffin, Peyton Frey, Amelia Hess, Haylie Frey, Camrynn Frey and Ray Myers.
She was predeceased by her husband, August Paternoster; a sister, Doris; and her brother, Harold “Woody” Wood.
Calling hours were held 4-7 p.m. Friday, at the Nelson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Saturday at the funeral home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
