PHOENIX, NY – Betty Slade Buchanan Lowe, 93, of Phoenix, NY, Pleasant Lake and Clay,
passed away on Saturday May 4, 2013.
She was born to her late parents, Ethel May (DeBusy) and Harold W. Slade on Sept. 20, 1919.
She received her bachelors degree from Oswego State College, and nearly earning her
master’s degree as well.
Betty taught art in the junior high and elementary schools for Phoenix Central Schools.
Betty was an accomplished artist, specializing in oil paintings.
She enjoyed camping, hiking, world travel, and loved her home on Pleasant Lake, Schroeppel.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert G. Lowe, on April 21, 2001.
Surviving are her son, James R. and his wife Emily Buchanan of Minoa; three grandchildren, Andrew (Denice) Buchanan of North Syracuse, Meghan Buchanan of East Syracuse and Shauna Buchanan of North Syracuse; one great-grandson, Aidan; and one great-granddaughter, Emmy.
Services will be where she was a member, in Liverpool First United Methodist Church, on
Thursday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Beth Quick officiating.
A calling hour will be from 1 to 2 p.m. in the church prior to the service.
