Beverly E. Southgate, 82

OSWEGO, NY – Beverly E. Southgate, 82, a resident of Syracuse and a former resident of Oswego passed away Wednesday morning January 9, 2013, at the Van Duyn Home in Syracuse.

She was born in Oswego and was the daughter of the late Samuel and Florence Brown Bedbury.

Mrs. Southgate was the widow of Charles E. Southgate who died in 1999.

She had been employed at McDonalds Fashions, Super Duper and retired from Top’s Supermarket.

She is survived by two daughters, Kimberly (Mark) Stafford of Syracuse and Tamera (Lyle) Young of Fulton; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday 4 p.m. at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.

Calling hours will be 2-4 p.m. prior to the service.

Spring burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.


  1. Kim and Tammy You have my deepest Sympathy in the passing of your mother. I used to work with her at Tops at the counter. She was such a nice person and she had the most beautiful hair. Your mom and dad were going to park their boat at our house as they used to come out to the lake but they never got to. I know that she will be greatly missed by you and your families. Donna Hudson

  3. To the Family of Bev I also had the pleasures of working with her at TOPS and she was one heck of a lady. She was always willing to help and I love talking with her and the hugs she gave when she hasn;t seen you in a while. She will be greatly missed by all of her TOPS gang.
