SCRIBA, NY – Billy Joe Ã¢â‚¬Å“BJÃ¢â‚¬Â Haines, 46, a resident of the Goodwin Drive in the Town of Scriba, passed away at home Thursday Oct. 1, 2009, in the arms of his loving wife and mother and surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Oswego, the son of Myrtle (Boardway) Haines, and the late Harry Haines.
He was a life resident.
He had been employed, for more than 10 years, as the crew leader of recycling with the Novelis Corp. in Oswego.
BJ was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.
He enjoyed all sports and played on many local softball teams, including this seasonÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Cheap Seats team.
He was an enthusiastic New York Yankees fan.
He especially loved being with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Griffin) Haines of Scriba; his mother, of Scriba; a son, Eric Haines of Scriba; a daughter, Rebecca Haines of Scriba; two brothers, Harry P. Haines Jr. of Oswego and Craig (Lorie) Haines of Scriba; a sister, Virginia Vasquez of Scriba; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 E. Second St., Oswego.
Funeral services will be private
Family and friends are invited to gather at BJ and MaryÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s home on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. to continue sharing stories and celebrating BJÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s life.
