OSWEGO – Following the road to exceptional customer service is an everyday practice at Bishop’s Commons and staff is rewarded quarterly for doing just that with the “Ruby Slipper Award.”
Chris McManus, certified home health aide was recently given the honors for displaying outstanding service at the Enriched Living Residence.
“Going above and beyond everyday is noticed by our supervisors and our residents,” noted Senior Living Coordinator Julie Chetney. “And, rewarding our staff for their efforts is an important part of our initiative to provide the highest level of service to our residents and their families.”
McManus has been employed as a home health aide for more than five years at Bishop’s Commons and when congratulated by a resident after the announcement was made, her reply was simple, “Thank you, but I didn’t think I did anything special, just doing my job.”
A committee of residents meets quarterly to review all nominations for the award and then make the decision of who will be the recipient.
“It is important to let staff know what a great job they are doing and that we appreciate the little things and the big things,” resident and chair of the committee Glenn Clark stated.
McManus was honored at the May resident council meeting with a corsage, plaque, and a gift of appreciation.
