The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 2-4 Oswego, is offering two Boating Safely classes :
- May 7 at the at the Fulton Municipal Building located at 141 South First St. Fulton from 8-5.
- May 14 at the Sandy Pond Sportsman Association, 3201 Co Rt 15, Sandy Creek from 9:30 to 4:30.
Successful completion of one of these classes will result in a Boating Safely Certificate. The cost is $35.00 and preregistration is required by calling 598-7854.
The US Coast Guard is composed of volunteers who support the Coast Guard in all of its varied mission, except military and law enforcement. These men and women can be found on the nation’s waterways and in the air performing Maritime Domain Awareness and safety patrols, in classrooms teaching boater safety, and on the docks, performing vessel safety checks. We also do watch standing at our local Coast Guard Station Oswego.
The United State Coast Guard was founded in 1939 by an act of Congress as the U. S. Coast Guard Reserve and re-designated as the Auxiliary in 1942. Each year the Coast Guard assists over 11,000 boaters, saves over 500 lives, and educates over 500,000 students. Anyone wanting more information call 598-7854.
