FULTON – G. Ray Bodley High School recently named Jacob Geitner and Madison Lang as the Class of 2018 valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively.
Principal Donna Parkhurst, in a long-standing tradition, shared the joy in a special school announcement and called both students down to the main office.
Geitner and Lang were greeted by Parkhurst, GRB assistant principals Amy Stephenson and Marc Copani, main office staff members and school district administration, including Geri Geitner, Jacob’s mother.
The top two seniors received red and white carnations, handshakes and hugs as they were cheered for their accomplishments.
Humbled and quiet, the pair walked into Parkhurst’s office where she called Mr. Geitner and Mrs. Lang to deliver both of them the wonderful news.
“She’s worked very hard,” Parkhurst said to Mrs. Lang, regarding Madison’s weighted grade point average of 102.056.
Geitner earned a weighted grade point average of 102.405.
He said the most intense time of high school has been the transition from junior to senior year as he had to become more focused on his advanced classwork. Lang agreed.
The pair will be busy studying for Advanced Placement exams and then eagerly await graduation on June 23.
A detailed story about Lang’s and Geitner’s successes will appear closer to that time.
