FULTON – One-third of G. Ray Bodley High School’s Class of 2018 will graduate June 23 with high honors.
Their academic achievements were honored during a special banquet, held in the GRB gymnasium, where the 85 high honor graduates enjoyed a meal catered by Blue Moon Grill, conversation with friends and family and well wishes from Fulton City School District staff members.
GRB Principal Donna Parkhurst said all honorees have achieved an average of at least 89.5 throughout all four years of high school.
“Each of you are a fine example of the very best that GRB has to offer,” she said during opening remarks. “We are very, very proud of your successes.”
The seniors were encouraged to dream big and to continue to work toward reaching their goals, just as former Lanigan Elementary, Fulton Junior High and GRB graduate Carson Metcalf had.
The event’s guest speaker inspired the graduates to reflect on their high school careers as the bedrock for the rest of their lives.
Rigorous coursework at GRB, he said, taught him that things won’t be handed to him.
A continuation of their hard work and the will to succeed will lead them to fulfilling lives, he said.
Superintendent Brian Pulvino also reflected on the remarkable moments of the high honor graduates as he pleaded with them to never forget the sense of pride where they came from in the city of Fulton.
Parkhurst was then joined by GRB assistant principals Marc Copani and Amy Stephenson who presented the high honor graduate pins to be worn on their honor sashes on graduation day.
A special gift was also given to valedictorian Jacob Geitner and salutatorian Madison Lang.
