OSWEGO, NY – For the second time within a week, a body has reportedly been recovered from the waters of Lake Ontario.
Shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 16) emergency crews were dispatched to the area of Seagull Rock Drive, in the town of Sterling, Cayuga County..
Adam McKelvey, 42, of Oswego had been swimming with friends and family members when he went to the aid of a child who was struggling to stay above the water.
McKelvey and others went to help the child. The child was brought to shore safely; but McKelvey became fatigued and slipped under the water.
His body was recovered and he was pronounced dead at Oswego Hospital. The cause of death hasn’t been determined by officials.
The body of a 17-year-old girl was found in the water at Brennan’s Beach on Aug. 9. That investigation is continuing.
