MINETTO, NY – At 12:25 this afternoon (Dec. 3), Oswego County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a residence on County Route 25 in the town of Minetto to investigate the report of a missing person.
Deputies were advised that a 78-year-old woman had not been seen for the past few days.
While investigating the matter, deputies were dispatched to another location about one tenth mile away for the report of the discovery of a body of a deceased woman.
The woman’s body was found in a wooded area behind residences on County Route 25.
The investigation has determined that the discovered body is likely that of the missing woman.
Foul play is not immediately suspected.
Minetto Fire Department, Oswego Fire Department and Menter Ambulance Service all responded to assist.
The matter remains under investigation.
The name of the victim will be released following positive identification and appropriate family notifications being completed.
