FULTON, NY – Oswego County Opportunities recently received a gift of $10,000 from the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation for OCO’s Discovery Learning Center.
The funds will help OCO’s Discovery Learning Center continue to provide quality, affordable day care for low income families.
“This grant allows us to offer special scholarships to families who could not otherwise afford the services available from a licensed day care facility where safety, learning and the developmental needs of their children are central to their children’s care,” said OCO Development Coordinator Margaret Barclay.
Discovery Learning Center was created in 1995 to fill a dire need for affordable child care for families in Oswego County.
Licensed by NYS Office for Children and Family Services OCO’s Discovery Learning Center provides early education experiences for toddler, pre-K and school age children, including children with disabilities.
OCO’s Discovery Learning Center works with families to provide them with the child care they need at a rate they can afford and assures them that their children are in a safe environment where they are encouraged to learn and grow.
“Through the support from the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation, OCO will be able to provide 20 low-income families facing economic challenges with scholarships that will help cover the entire cost of care. OCO’s mission is to inspire partnerships and provide partnerships to empower people, support communities and change lives. Providing families with reliable, caring and licensed child care fulfills this mission. The recent gift from The Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation is helping OCO help families in need change their lives,” said Barclay.
The Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation strives to enrich the lives of kids in need within our Central New York community, as well, as, provide support for eliminating cancer through research and advocacy.
