Brockport, N.Y. – The Oswego State women’s basketball team took a tough 70-67 overtime loss at Brockport on Friday night.
Oswego’s loss drops the team to 6-8 overall with a 2-5 conference mark while the Golden Eagles improve to 6-5, 2-2.
Oswego took a 12-point lead, 34-22, into the locker room at half behind Jenn Robbins’ 15 points on 6-for-11 shooting in the period.
Brockport erased the deficit through the first 10 minutes of the second half, forcing a battle throughout regulation.
Neither team could decide a victor through 40 minutes so tied at 62-62 they headed for an extra period.
The Golden Eagles score the overtime’s first four points but the Lakers fought back to tie the contest at 66-66. Brockport secured the victory with the game’s next four points while Oswego was only able to add a free throw down the stretch.
Robbins finished with game-highs for points (22) and assists (8). All nine Lakers that saw action in the contest scored, including Heather Hebert, who finished with nine points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Tayler Sorell and Mary Mazzella each finished with points.
Oswego returns to action at 6 p.m. on Saturday when Geneseo comes to Max Ziel Gymnasium for a conference matchup.
