OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women’s soccer team falls to Brockport 4-1 on a rainy Saturday afternoon at Laker Soccer Field.
With the defeat, the team moves to 5-7-3 on the year and 2-3-3 in conference.
Brockport moves to 8-5-1 on the season, 2-4-1 in the SUNYAC.
The Lakers were able to apply pressure to Brockport in the first half, shooting the ball on target eight times.
A good opportunity arose on a Georgia Traynor corner kick as the ball was loose in the six yard-line box but Brockport’s keeper was able to clear it away.
With 6:55 to go in the first, Cayli Carmona of Brockport stole the ball from a defender at the top of the box and shot the ball just over the fingertips of Alyssa Glasshagel, giving the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead going into half.
As the rain came down harder in the second half, Oswego continued grab opportunities but to no avail.
Brockport’s Chelsea Stahl widened Brockport’s lead with a goal at 52:37 and then another a little over five minutes later.
Oswego’s lone goal came from a long ball to the far post. The pass was played in by Katie Schulz and found Alexa Restante for the tap-in with 6:52 left in the game.
Stahl was then able to score once more for the Golden Eagles with eight seconds left on the clock giving them the 4-1 lead.
The Lakers ended the game with 13 shots-on-goal, five more than their opponents, including three from Amanda Heberger and two from Bailey Waterbury.
Women’s soccer will return to the field for Senior Day and its final regular-season game at 1 p.m. on Oct. 25 against Cortland.
