OSWEGO, NY – Preseason testing continued at Oswego Speedway on Tuesday evening in anticipation of the Speedway’s 66th season opener on May 14 as former track champion Russ Brown and former SBS Classic champion Cameron Rowe each took to the fast 5/8 mile in their Pathfinder Bank Small Block Supers.
Driving the Hedger Fabrication No. 13, Brown would not only set the fastest time of the day but also the fastest time of preseason testing so far this week for the Pathfinder Bank SBS division with a lap of 18.702 seconds.
The current division track record holder, Brown is not expected to campaign full-time in 2016, but will be a threat at the season opener on Saturday night.
Brown’s lap topped Mike Bond’s fastest circuit of 18.851 seconds set during Saturday’s open practice session. Brown and Bond are the only two SBS drivers during testing to have dipped below the 19-second bracket.
Rowe was once again behind the wheel of his No. 77 Hedger chassis on Tuesday with a fast lap of 19.588 seconds. That lap was over a full tenth faster than Rowe’s quickest circuit last Saturday.
Oswego preseason testing continues on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. with the Graham Racing Supermodified stable taking to the ‘Steel Palace.’
A Fast Friday session from 4-8 p.m. is also scheduled for May 13.
Kids 16 and under will again be admitted free at all Speedway events in 2016 with the exception of Budweiser International Classic Weekend and Race of Champions Weekend.
Racing action at the Speedway begins on Saturday, May 14, featuring the Speedway’s 66th consecutive opening night presented by Mitchell’s Speedway Press and highlighted by the Race of Champions Modified Richie Evans Memorial 61 as well as kickoff events for the Novelis Supermodifieds and Pathfinder Bank SBS.
