“BucFest” is planned for October 4, from 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., at the end of Joe Wilber Field (rain location OHS gyms).

It will follow the homecoming parade organized by the OHS Junior Class, which starts at 10 a.m. on West First Street across from the former Climbing Wall and ends at the football field on Buccaneer Boulevard.

Immediately following BucFest will be the homecoming game against the ES-M Spartans with kickoff at 2 p.m.

The cost of the sixth annual event is $2 and most of the attractions are free.

Every “BucFest” visitor will receive free snacks donated by Frito Lay and free blue or white “Buc Beads” as they enter.

The new “Meltdown” inflatable is going to be the featured event this year.

This eight-player action game is similar to the popular “Wipeout” television show.

There will also be a new UFO Bouncey house with a slide that is sure to be popular.

“Each year we try to add new attractions and activities that will entertain and boost school spirit with the students, faculty and community,” said BucFest committee chair, Judy Queale-Dunsmoor. “We have a lot to be proud of as Buccaneers, and there will be something for everyone at this year’s BucFest.”

The official “BucFest 2014” T-shirt, sporting a unique new design this year will also be on sale during BucFest, with a limited number of shirts available.

In true ‘Buc’ Spirit you will able to get your hair and nails colored in “Buc Blue” as well as make a stop at the face-painting booth.

The popular  DJ “Marty from Digital Sound Entertainment” will return again to provide music for this year’s event.

One of the most popular activities every year is the “dunk booth” where students attempt to soak their teachers or coaches.

Attendees can play on a variety of inflatables from the Dual Lap Obstacle Course to the Pedestal Jousting.

They can decorate a pumpkin or design their own bandana with Zink shirts.

Danny Oostdyk from G&G Reptiles will be on hand with a variety of reptiles to see and touch.

Some games will offer prizes donated by Fajita Grill and other local businesses.

Children can get their photos taken with New York Bold’s “Chef Bold” or the “Oswego Buccaneer.”

This year’s menu includes fried dough, fried oreos, cotton candy, snow cones, candy apples, hot dogs and pizza, pulled pork and chili brought to you by the football boosters, Barlow’s Concessions, Kings Concession, Gibby O’Connor’s Irish Pub, Mark’s Pizzeria and Mike’s Fun Foods.

The Buc Boosters hope that the entire Oswego community will come out to watch the homecoming parade and enjoy BucFest activities before cheering on the Buccaneer football team in its homecoming contest.
