BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women’s soccer team (5-6-0, 2-4-0 SUNYAC) was unable to overcome a three-goal halftime deficit, as the Lakers dropped a 4-0 decision to Buffalo State (3-6-4, 1-1-3 SUNYAC) on Saturday.
The Bengals did not waste much time putting themselves on the board. Less than 15 minutes into the game, Kristin Seiferth scored on a misplay by goalkeeper Emily Varonier (Sr, Miller Place, N.Y.). The Bengals scored again, less than ten minutes before the half was over. Taylor Volkman scored when the ball was deflected by an Oswego State player and passed by Varonier.
Two minutes later, Buffalo State received another goal from Emily Wyse with an assist from Jessica O’Donoghue. Bri Dolan (So., Fayetteville, N.Y.) took a shot for the Lakers two minutes before the half ended, but the ball was stopped by Buffalo State goalkeeper Linda Banfield. Around the 71st minute, Buffalo State tacked on its final goal of the foot of Jordan Dudish.
Varonier ended the game with four saves in the loss, while Banfield finished with six.
The Lakers play their next game on Friday against Geneseo at Laker Field at 4 p.m.
