BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women’s basketball team dropped an 86-62 contest to host Buffalo State on Saturday afternoon in the Bengals’ Sports Arena. With the loss, the Lakers fall to 1-6 overall and 0-2 in SUNYAC play while Buffalo State goes to 4-2, 1-1.
For the second-straight game, Tayler Sorell led the Lakers in the scoring column, putting 14 points on the board.
Also in double figures was Courtney Ameele with 11 while Kayla Tucek and Mary Mazzella each chipped in eight.
Nine different Lakers corralled rebounds against Buffalo State, paced by a pair five-board games from Tucek and Zana Dillard. Close behind was Nicole SantaMaria’s four, followed by four players with three apiece.
The Lakers put pressure on the Bengals in the second quarter, cutting a 15-point deficit to just six at 35-29.
Buffalo State would take an eight-point advantage into the locker room at half and a +14 margin in the third put the game out of reach.
Oswego will close out the first semester with a 5:30 p.m. nonconference tilt with Cazenovia College in Max Ziel Gymnasium.
