Offered each June and September, people ages 50-plus can enjoy Camp Hollis and a variety of activities.

This year’s theme is “Stretching your Mind, Body and Soul.”

Campers may sign up with one or more friends.

Some of the program highlights include: holistic health techniques, protecting yourself from scams, 6 Steps to Better Balance demonstration, auction and yard sale, bingo, arts and crafts; watercolor painting presentation, antiques evaluationsm musical entertainment, guest speakers, zumba, and, of course, delicious food, snacks and beverages.

Explore the woods, skip some rocks along the shore and enjoy a campfire overlooking Lake Ontario on Monday evening, complete with S’mores.

Tuesday’s final performance will feature local author Jim Farfaglia reading poetry from his latest book, “Music Saved My Mortal Soul,” along with local musical duo Gina Holsopple and Matt Wood providing cover versions of some of those songs.

Situated along the shoreline of Lake Ontario, Camp Hollis is three miles west of the city of Oswego on Health Camp Road and features a unique camping experience.

Cabins have electricity, flush toilets and hot and cold running water.

Campers are asked to provide their own bedding.

RSVP volunteer and senior camping coordinator Sandy Davis said, “This is a two-day ‘staycation’ for the unbelievable price of $20, which includes everything the program has to offer. We do offer two other day programs at a discounted rate to accommodate participants who would rather sleep in their own beds. We do ask campers to plan on bringing spending money if interested in attending the auction and yard sale. We also graciously accept donations for both activities. Senior Camping relies on the generosity of program presenters, donors and area businesses such as Burger King, Dunkin Donuts, Hudson’s Dairy, McDonald’s, Ontario Orchards, Oswego County Opportunities Nutritional Services, Price Chopper, Stewart’s Ice Cream and Tops Friendly Markets.”

Registration is limited to 80 people and strongly encouraged by May 31.

Participants can choose among three different programs:  two-day overnight — 9 a.m. Monday arrival and 3 p.m. Tuesday departure, $20; day program — Monday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and/or Tuesday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., $10 per day; and Monday day/evening program — enjoy the day and stay for dinner and the bonfire, $12.50.
