FULTON, NY – In recognition of Colon Cancer Awareness Month, Oswego County Opportunities’ Cancer Services Program Partnership has teamed with AMP Urology in Fulton to offer a free colon and prostate cancer screening event on March 24 from 5 to 7 p.m. at AMP Urology, 806 W. Broadway.
The Cancer Services Program will provide free take home FIT kits for colon cancer screening and AMP Urology will offer free PSA blood tests for prostate cancer screenings for men ages 50 to 64.
Additionally, free FIT kits for colon cancer screenings will be available for women ages 50 to 64.
“Colon cancer does not always display symptoms, making regular screenings and early detection two of the most important weapons in the war against colon cancer,” said Program Coordinator for OCO’s Cancer Services Program Partnership Carolyn Handville. “Colorectal cancer can be prevented. We are pleased to be partnering with AMP Urology and are excited about being able to offer these free cancer screenings.”
In addition to the free cancer screenings Handville said the event would include free refreshments, free drawings, and for those who are screened, a chance to win a $50 gift certificate courtesy of Burke’s Home Centers.
Administered through Oswego County Opportunities, the Cancer Services Program Partnership of Oswego County offers a number of cancer screening services including: Colorectal Cancer Screenings, Clinical Breast Exams, Mammograms, and Pap/Pelvic Exams.
These screenings are available year round, free of charge, and play an important part in maintaining good health.
