Candlelight Vigil Set Tonight To Honor Kyle Rookey

OSWEGO, NY – – Kyle Rookey will be honored this evening (Sept. 7) at Fort Ontario.

The 23-year-old Oswego native died Sunday in Afghanistan in “a non-combat related incident.”

The candlelight vigil will get under way at 9 p.m.

Organizers said they will share stories of Kyle first and then around 9:30 p.m. or so will start the vigil.

The public is invited to attend and is asked to bring candles, lighters, cups for wax, flags, and if they want photos of Kyle.

There will also be “a few surprises,” organizers hinted.
