OSWEGO, NY – Carleton H. Rounds, 83, a resident of Oswego, passed away Monday June 4, 2012, at home.
Born in Grand Rapids, Mich., he was the son of the late Carlton and Erroll (Brackett) Rounds.
Carl was a World War II Air Force veteran and after serving in the military, went on to graduate as valedictorian of Rhode Island School of Design. After his schooling he was employed in NYC for several years before relocating to Pulaski.
He then was a self-employed architect serving for more than 50 years in the Oswego-Onondaga area.
He was a member of the local American Legion and Moose Club. He was an avid Brooklyn Dodgers and Yankees Fan, and loved playing golf.
Surviving are his sons, Thomas (Karen) Rounds of California and Peter (AnneMarie) Rounds of Oswego; his daughter, Amy Rounds of Boylston; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Carol M. Rounds; his siblings, Clifford, Arlon and Susan; and his companion of 35 years, Virginia M. Solazzo.
Left to honor Carl and remember his love are Virginia’s children, Joe (Bj) Solazzo, John Solazzo, Mike (Tammy) Solazzo, Gary (Sue) Solazzo, Karen Solazzo and Kevin Barlow; as well as 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Carl played a large role in all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s lives!
He touched each one in his own special way and he will never be forgotten.
They will always remember him as Grandpa.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Elim Grace Church, 340 W. First St., Oswego.
Burial will be in Pulaski Village Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Friday 4-7 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.
