OSWEGO – Carolyn L. Barker, 73 a long-time resident of County Route 7 in Oswego Center, passed away Wednesday morning Oct. 7, 2015, surrounded by her loving family at the home of her daughter.
She was born in Oswego and was the daughter of the late George and Hazel Dunn McDowell.
Carolyn had retired from Oswego County Office of the Aging.
She was previously employed at Canale’s Restaurant and the Oswego Country Club.
She was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend.
Carolyn had been a Girl Scout leader.
She attended SUNY Oswego and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Oswego.
Carolyn enjoyed arts, crafts, crocheting and quilting.
Mrs. Barker is survived by three daughters, Carolyn Barker Toy, Marilyn (Kenneth) Buske both of Oswego and Laurrie (Ricky) Hillegeer of Tennessee; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Stevens, Bryan Stevens, Edward H. Scruton, Kenneth J. Buske, Joseph Buske, Charles E. Hall III and Amanda Hall; 10 great-grandchildren; five nieces Lorraine Williams, Marsha Byron, Cherrill Pilone, Carol Nagy and Deborah Rowley; and one nephew, David McDowell.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one son, William James Barker Jr.; one sister, H. Emily Williams; one brother, George McDowell; and a granddaughter, Holly Jo Hall.
Calling hours will be Monday 5-7 p.m. at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.
Private services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
