Carthage Man, Killed In Palermo Crash

OSWEGO, NY – On Sunday (Aug. 16), members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident in the town of Palermo.

Killed in the accident was 32-year-old Gary K. Sun, with a most recent address of 29 Vincent St., Carthage, NY.

Also injured in the crash was 48-year-old Kenneth L Bartlett and his nine-year-old daughter.

Both Kenneth Bartlett and his daughter were transported to University hospital with non-life threatening injuries, deputies said.

Sun was operating a 2002 Saturn southbound on State Route 3, in the town of Palermo, at the time of the collision.

Indicators at the scene showed that Sun’s vehicle crossed the center line and collided with the North bound 2008 Dodge Ram pickup truck towing a camper.

The pickup and camper left the east side of the roadway after the collision.

Sun was pronounced dead at the scene.

Assisting at the scene was Mcfee Ambulance service, the Palermo Fire Department, and the New York State Police.

The cause of this accident remains under investigation at this time.
