OSWEGO – An Albany-based casting company is looking for males and females, ages 18 to 60-plus, to play background extras in an independent short film being filmed in Oswego July 13 and 14.
The low-budget short film “REDD” is directed, written and produced by Vaal English of Old English Productions, Long Island. English is working with Carolyn Cocca of Cocca Casting to recruit men and women to portray background extras in the film.
“The film is a late 1920s fighting fantasy film about a young man named Damian who is entrapped in an underground fighting ring beneath New York City,” said English. “His eagerness motivates him to fight for his freedom and return to the outside world but it may ultimately lead to his downfall. The project will be submitted to Tribeca, Sundance and Cannes festivals.“
Background talent is needed for a crowd scene shot indoors around the fighting ring.
No experience is necessary.
Actors and actresses must take direction well and have good reactive expressions.
Background talent will not be paid or reimbursed for travel expenses.
Individual credits will be given to all on the DVD/online version.
Sandwiches, snacks, and drinks will be available.
All talent should be dressed in 1920s fashion with hair styles to match.
Both “wealthy” and “poor” characters are acceptable.
Background talent wearing tattoos, piercings and logos will not be considered.
All ethnicities are encouraged to apply.
Those interested in applying as background extras are asked to reply to [email protected] with “REDD-EXTRA” in the subject line.
