The Oswego County Legislature’s Economic Development and Planning Committee recently presented a proclamation to Sara Broadwell of the Greater Oswego – Fulton Chamber of Commerce designating April 29 to May 5 as National Small Business Week.
In preparation of the upcoming boating season, the Oswego Fire Department has partnered with the USCG Auxiliary to host a boating safety course on May 5. The “It’s All About Boating Safely” course is designed for the beginner boater or watercraft user.
The data was collected from 46 Syracuse University students and faculty members who attended an on-campus PAWS of CNY pet therapy event, and 41 students who attended a similar event at SUNY Oswego. Seventy-seven percent of respondents were aged 18-24.

St. Luke Family of Caring volunteers were recognized for the tremendous contributions made in the lives of those served by the local healthcare affiliates during a gathering held in their honor at St. Luke Health Services in Oswego. The gathering brought together volunteers of all ages from St. Luke, Bishop’s Commons and St. Francis Commons.
The Oswego County Health Department will hold its next rabies clinic from 6 to 8 p.m. May 2, at the County Highway Garage, 24 Dill Pickle Alley, Parish. New York State law requires that all cats, dogs, and ferrets be vaccinated against rabies. Ferrets must be vaccinated annually.

The Oswego County Legislature proclaimed April as Child Abuse Prevention Month and presented a certificate to representatives of Oswego County’s Child Advocacy Center Foundation, Inc. and Department of Social Services.
The Oswego County Department of Social Services will host an informational meeting from 2 to 4 p.m. May 2, at the DSS office, 100 Spring St., Mexico, for people who are interested in becoming foster or adoptive parents.
