Lucy Speigel (pictured) recently celebrated her 9th birthday. Instead of presents at her party, she asked her guests to bring donations for Catholic Charities food pantry, said Margaret Pezella-Pekow, executive director. “Lucy’s sister, Moira, turned 10 the day after and she also did not want to receive gifts she chose to have food donated to the animal shelter,” Pezella-Pekow said. “Both Moira and her sister feel it is better to give and to help others. Thank you Lucy and Moira we are blessed that you are such caring young girls. Catholic Charities was founded in 1930 and has expanded its agency with many programs and services that have touched thousands of children, families and individuals throughout Oswego County. Generous gifts and donations to Catholic Charities have supported more than 160,000 children, woman and men in need. For information, contact Pezella-Pekow at [email protected], 598-3980.
