Catholic Charities Nearing Deadline For Christmas Food Basket Requests

Submitted Article

FULTON, NY – With the holidays fast approaching, the Emergency Assistance Program at Catholic Charities of Oswego County has announced that it is rapidly reaching its cut off point for accepting applications for Christmas food baskets.

Christmas baskets are complete with a turkey and all the trimmings.

In addition, Christmas baskets also include gifts for the children through the “Let’s Give For a Kid” program.

The Food Pantry at Catholic Charities will continue accepting applications until Nov. 28 or until the availability of baskets has been exhausted.

Families interested in receiving a basket this Christmas are urged to stop in and fill out an application as soon as possible.

Those interested must apply in person, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Catholic Charities food pantry, 365 W. First St., Fulton.

To apply for a food basket you must reside in the Fulton area, provide Social Security cards for everyone in the household and a recent piece of mail, with name and address, postmarked within the past 30 days.

There are also plenty of opportunities to “Adopt A Family.”

Each year several individuals and businesses come forward to help meet the demand by adopting a family and providing food and presents for an entire family.

Their generosity helps to bring smiles to many faces on Christmas morning.

For more information on the holiday basket program, or to “Adopt A Family” for Christmas, contact Judy Egan at Catholic Charities of Oswego County, 598-3980, ext. 250.

Catholic Charities of Oswego County serves all people in need regardless of their religious affiliation.

Primary funding sources for Catholic Charities of Oswego County’s programs are the United Way of Greater Oswego County, the Diocesan Hope Appeal, the County of Oswego and private donations by individuals and local companies and organizations.
