Catholic Charities Volleyball Tournament Set Aug. 22

OSWEGO, NY – Catholic Charities of Oswego County invites you to join them for an afternoon of food, fun and friendly competition that will benefit area youth and help feed those in need.

On Aug. 22, beginning at 11:30 a.m., Cheap Seats Sports Bar will host Catholic Charities’ first ever Co-Ed Volleyball Tournament.

Sponsored by Alliance Bank and Fulton Savings Bank, the event serves as a fundraiser to benefit two of Catholic Charities’ most in-demand programs, the food pantry and CYO.

Eight teams of six players will compete in a double-elimination tournament with the opportunity to win prizes of $200 for first place and $100 for second place.

Teams scheduled to play in the tournament include, Hazzey’s, Novelis, Burritt Motors, Cheap Seats, Eagle Beverage, Little Mack and two teams from the Fulton Police Department.

In addition to the volleyball tournament, Lee Victory, owner of Cheap Seats, will donate 20 % of all food and beverage sales during the tournament to Catholic Charities.

“I’m happy to be able to lend my support.  Catholic Charities of Oswego County provides vital programs and services that many in Oswego County depend on. Supporting Catholic Charities of Oswego County is a great way to give back to our community,” he said.

To add to the fun there will also be a bag auction and a 50 / 50 drawing.

All proceeds from the event will benefit Catholic Charities’ food pantry, which served more than 15,000 people and provided more than 63,000 meals last year, and the CYO, which offers a wide variety of recreational and educational programs for area youth including its popular mentoring program for elementary and high school students.

Executive Director of Catholic Charities of Oswego County, Mary-Margaret Pezzella-Pekow is looking forward to the tournament.

The fundraiser will start at 11:30 a.m. at Cheap Seats, 6 Hillside Ave.
