Catholic Charities of Oswego County recently held its first ever Back to School Youth Fair. Thanks to the support we received from businesses and organizations that participated in the event, hundreds of area youth enjoyed an afternoon that included free school supplies, lunch bags packed with a healthy lunch, face painting, complimentary hair cuts and dental screenings, presentations on health, safety, education and more.
None of this would have been possible without the support we received from Dr. Walter Bozek DDS of Oswego, Chandra Carvey and the staff at Hair Hut in Fulton, Donna Gratton, owner of the Phoenix Barber Shop, area School Districts, Constellation Energy Nuclear Group (CENG), Fidelis Care, W.B. Mason, Kinney Drug Store in Fulton, the Tobacco Free Network of Oswego County, and the Youth Advocacy Program of Oswego County.
Additional support was received from many agencies and volunteers who helped make the Back to School Youth Fair a success.
We extend a special thank you to the staff of the Fulton War Memorial for use of the building and all their help with the event; and to Abby Jenkins, Tobacco Free Network Program Coordinator for her collaboration efforts in planning for the event.
It was inspiring to see our community come together for the benefit of our youth.
The feedback we have received from those attending the Back to School Youth Fair and those who participated has been tremendous and we look forward to making next year’s event bigger and better!
