PHOENIX, NY – Cecil L. “Cy” Burton, 70, of Phoenix, passed away suddenly on Saturday June 25, 2016, at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center, Syracuse, NY.
He was born in Syracuse on September 22, 1945, to his late parents, Laura J. (Hurd) and Wayne M. Burton Sr.
He was a graduate of J. C. Birdlebough High School, Phoenix.
Earlier in his career, he was employed at Armstrong Cork Co., town of Volney.
The majority of Cy’s life was spent as a stone mason for Sweet-Woods Memorial Monument Co., Phoenix.
He was a life member of the Phoenix Rod and Gun Club, and enjoyed sportsman activities.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 40 years, Susan A. (Sach) Burton, on March 3, 2008; his brother, Wayne, Jr.; and his sister, Janet Allen in 2016.
Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Courtney of New Orleans, La.; his brothers, Fred Burton, Jon Burton, Richard “Dick” and his wife, Cindy Burton, and Clark Burton and Debbie; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; canines, Carlton and Cooper.
There will be no services or calling hours.
Private burial will take place in Phoenix Rural Cemetery at a later date.
