OSWEGO, NY – A suspect has been identified and a criminal charge has been filed as a result of an investigation into a Robbery that occurred at 126 East Oneida St. Oswego on Wednesday.
Investigators, following up on leads that were developed, were able to identify 22-year-old Joseph M. Barbera of 228 E. 10th St., Oswego, as a person of interest during the latter afternoon hours of Thursday.
Further investigation lead to a positive identification of Barbera as the suspect.
Barbera was located at the Fulton City Police Department were he was in custody on charges unrelated to the robbery.
Due to Barbera being in custody by Fulton City Police, Oswego City Police Investigators were unable to make a physical arrest at that time.
An Accusatory Instrument has been filed in Oswego City Court, charging Barbera with the following:
Robbery in the 1st degree – Class B Felony
Barbera is currently in the custody at the Oswego County Correctional Facility.
It is unknown at this time when he will appear in Oswego City Court for arraignment on the Robbery 1st degree charge.
