Charles A. “Mustard” Lass


OSWEGO, NY – Charles A. “Mustard” Lass of 57 W. Schuyler St. passed away on Wednesday Jan. 27, 2010, at University Hospital in Syracuse.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Harry and Grace (LaClair) Lass and was a life-long resident.

Charles was employed with Niagara Mohawk and retired after 36 of service with the company.

Mr. Lass was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War.

He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of the Columbus and was awarded Knight of the Year.

He was also a member of American Legion Post #268 and the Oswego Elks Lodge #271.

Surviving are his three daughters, Sandra (Rocky) Crucitti, Diane Lass and Debbie (Mike) Hoyt; two sisters, Eileen (Jack) Saddington and Jean (Hank) Babcock; six grandchildren, Sarah Crucitti, Rocky Crucitti, Emily Hoyt, Amy Jones, Chrissy Cooper and Greg Cooper; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Rose Mary (Ottman) Lass; a brother, Harold J. Lass; and a sister, Betty Dietz.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. from St. Mary’s Church.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dowdle Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

    To Mustard’s children,

    On behalf of my wife and sisters, I would like to express our sincere condolences at the loss of your father. He was a great guy. Our fathers had a lot of great times together as the K of C. He’ll be missed.
