Charles E. Miller Sr., 85

OSWEGO, NY – Charles “Charlie” E. Miller, 85, of Oswego, died Monday March 11, 2019, at Morningstar Care Center, Oswego.

Mr. Miller was born in Oswego, the son of the late Carl and Anastacia (Craver) Miller.

He was a former employee of Hammermill Paper Co., Nestle’s, and retired from Alcan Aluminum Paper as a material handler.

Mr. Miller served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Miller was a communicant of St. Joseph Church and a member of the Elks.

Mr. Miller is survived by his wife, Santa Miller; and their children, Charles (Cindy) Miller Jr. of Oswego, Debora (Kevin) Lyons of Colorado Springs, Carol (Mike) Shannon of Oswego, Donna (Alfred) Archer of Oswego, and Joseph (Lisa) Miller of Kentucky.

He is also survived by his grandchildren Shelby Lyons, Chad Miller, April Shannon, Dana Shannon, Sydney Miller, Alfred Archer, Brandon Archer, Zachary Miller and Matthew Miller; and great-granddaughter Sylvie Harrison.

Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday March 15, at the Sugar and Scanlon Funeral Home.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

The calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Sugar Scanlon Funeral Home, 147 W. Fourth St., Oswego.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Association, or the American Cancer Society.

    I am sorry to learn of Charlie’s passing. I have very fond memories of him and your entire family going back to when we first met back in 1975. I always enjoyed visiting with him appreciated his sense of humor and passion for many things, including his children, grandchildren and other family. Our thoughts are with you during this time of loss and mourning.

  2. Sorry to hear of Chuck’s passing. I worked with Chuck at Alcan for Many years and he was a friend.
