Charles M. “Mac” McElhone, 93, died Tuesday peacefully surrounded by friends and family at St. Luke Health Services.
He was born in Oswego and was the son of the late Henry and Anna Cousineau McElhone and was a lifelong resident.
Mac retired after 30 years with Niagara Mohawk where he worked in boiler maintenance. Following his retirement he worked part time for the City of Oswego as the Plumbing Inspector.
Mac was in the Navy (Sea Bees) and was a survivor of Iwo Jima in World War II. Mac was an avid sports enthusiast and loved watching baseball, basketball and football “in that order”.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Mary Pearson McElhone, to whom he was married for 50 years until her death in 1992. They were communicants of St. Paul’s Church in Oswego where Mac had served as a Trustee.
Mac was a former member of the Oswego Elks Lodge and the Knights of Columbus
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held 9:30AM Friday form the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home and at 10:00AM St. Paul’s Church. There are no calling hours. Entombment will be in All Saints Mausoleum, St. Peter’s Cemetery. Arrangements are with Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.
