Charles P. “Cuddy” Dix, 67, of Phoenix, NY, passed away Friday, March 11, 2011.
Cuddy was born in Herkimer, NY to the late Norman W. Dix and Norma M. Kinne. He was a graduate of John C. Birdlebough High School, class of 1962. He was recognized as the “Top Defensive Back” by his football coach.
Cuddy was the owner and operator of the Chuck Dix Garage for many years where he made many friends. He sponsored many Little League Baseball teams and was well known in the Community.
Cuddy was a well known drag-racer, racing and winning many races at both Fulton Speedway and ESTA Safety Park dragstrip. Cuddy was an avid sports fan, always cheering on the NY Giants, NY Yankees, NY Knicks, Miami Heat, and S. U.. Cuddy enjoyed watching NASCAR.
He enjoyed carpentry and could fix anything on a car. He was an accomplished bowler, and scored three “perfect 300 games” Cuddy was featured on television during many bowling tournaments. Cuddy also enjoyed his Friday evening golf outings with his friends.
Pre-deceased by his brothers Marvin and William Dix.
Cuddy is survived by his children, Cory (Ruby) Dix of Bracey, VA; Cary (Rodney) Redhead of Phoenix; former wife and dear friend Donna L. Holbrook; three grandchildren, Tyler and Ashley Dix, and Kelsey Lee Redhead; brothers, Robert and Richard Dix of Phoenix, Donald Dix of Dania FL; many relatives and friends including Timmy.
Services will be Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 1:30 pm at the First Congregational, UCC, 43 Bridge St., Phoenix, NY 13135. The family will greet you prior to the service from 1 pm to 1:30, in the church.
