Charles R. “Oxie” Ochsenbein, 85, a resident of Miner Road, passed away on Wednesday May 1, 2013, at St. Luke Health Services.
Born in Oswego, he was a son of the late Julius and Sophie (Zahler) Ochsenbein and was a graduate of Oswego High School.
He was employed with Niagara Mohawk for almost 40 years.
Mr. Ochsenbein was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Philippines.
“Oxie” was a member of the Niagara Mohawk 25 Year Club, the Niagara Mohawk Retirees Club and the Oswego Moose Club.
He was an avid hunter and enjoyed bowling with his wife and the Black Knights Drum and Bugle Corps.
Mr. Ochsenbein’s greatest love was being a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He could could be seen at any event whether a sporting event or concert in support of his kids, grandkids or great-grandkids.
Surviving are his two sons, Ronald Stuter of Pulaski, Tennessee and Mark (Linda) Ochsenbein of Scriba; two daughters, Sandra (Mike) Murphy of Clay and Peggy (Carl) Cullen of Scriba; grandchildren, Dereck, Erica, Rachael, Eurindia, Sharon, Ronald, Shannon, Christy, Katie, Kris and Kelly; a brother, Robert (Merle) Ochsenbein of Oswego; a close and trusted friend, Eurindia S. Ochsenbein; and great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Ochsenbein, on January 30, 2013; a brother, John Ochsenbein; two sisters, Clara Seymour and Emily Powell.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Lycoming United Methodist Church.
Burial will be in North Scriba Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dowdle Funeral Home on Friday from 4-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lycoming United Methodist Church.
