Chicken Barbecue and More at OCO Retro Bowl

FULTON, NY – A chicken barbecue will be a delicious part of the festivities at this year’s fund-raising bowling tournament hosted by Oswego County Opportunities.

The OCO Retro Bowl takes place on Saturday at Lakeview Lanes.

Lakeview Lanes will be selling chicken dinners in the parking lot outside Lakeview Lanes starting at 1:30 p.m. until sold out.

Dinners are $8, and include a half chicken, salt potatoes and macaroni salad. Pre-sale tickets are available now at the OCO main office, 239 Oneida St., Fulton, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

“We thought April 5 would be a great day to kick off the chicken barbecue season,” said OCO Executive Director Diane Cooper-Currier. “You can come and participate in our Retro Bowl, and buy a nice meal to take home and enjoy.”

The Retro Bowl takes place from noon – 6 p.m.

If you’d like to register a team, please call 598-4717 to find out if any spaces remain. Registration fee is $100 per five-person team.

Businesses and individuals are invited to donate door prizes for the raffles and silent auction, and major sponsors are being solicited as well.

“If you can’t participate in our activities on April 5, you can still help,” Cooper-Currier said. “We are accepting pledges from the community towards the event, and we will also have 50/50 drawings and a silent auction that day.”

In addition, OCO is launching its “Bling, Fling and Swing” Raffle with three exciting prizes: a diamond/sapphire ring; an overnight getaway for two to Vernon Downs Casino; and Canyon Combo tickets for two from Wonderworks at Destiny USA.

“We’ll begin selling these tickets at the Retro Bowl, with a drawing for all prizes on May 15. Every Bling, Fling and Swing Raffle ticket sold on April 5 enters the ticker holder into a special drawing for a lottery ticket board, which will be presented at the end of the Retro Bowl!” Cooper-Currier said.

Also, everyone is encouraged to bring at least one non-perishable food item and/or a personal care item for OCO to distribute to the homeless.

In addition to support for existing services, OCO will set aside a percentage of the Retro Bowl proceeds to build financial resources for the future.

“There is a real need to help the hungry in Oswego County,” Cooper-Currier said. “As the community action agency for Oswego County, we strongly support this vision because it aligns perfectly with OCO’s mission.”
