Christopher Stupp, front right, during a recent tour of the East Side Fire Station.
Students learned about local, national and international firefighting history, fire department services, the importance of maintenance, benefits of employment, connecting to the local community and job requirements from Capt. Christopher Stupp, an Oswego County BOCES Heavy Equipment graduate.
A handful of the CiTi students expressed interest in a firefighting career, while several others were intrigued by the information and station tour.
Chief Jeff McCrobie visited the afternoon group, and said he’d welcome CiTi students to the department for possible ride time or other educational opportunities.
He commended the students for showing respect and discipline while at the fire station.
The purpose of the fire station visit was to help the Career and Technical Education students gain exposure to local public safety careers and potential employment opportunities.
