MEXICO – Students in Mary Ryan’s Community Service Learning class in the STRIVE program at the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation have been committed to supporting local agencies throughout the 2016-2017 school year.
Students learned about basic needs and how to promote a drive to assist neighbors in need.
Ryan’s students have supplemented the Meals on Wheels program by creating holiday cards to the 450+ people they serve locally.
Students also recently made Valentine’s Day cards to bring a little love and compassion to those who are homebound.
Another STRIVE Community Service Learning class project has been the promotion of a food drive throughout CiTi’s main campus in Mexico by collecting food items to fill the shelves at the Mexico Food Pantry.
Since many pantries are barren following the holiday season, class members wanted to replenish their food inventory for the remaining winter months.
The students continue work on the community vegetable garden in the raised garden boxes behind the STEM lab on the CiTi campus to support the Mexico community at large.
