LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING EXTENDED TO 4 AM TUESDAY Closings and Delays


OSWEGO – JEFFERSON – LEWIS COUNTIES

LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING EXTENDED TO 4 AM TUESDAY.

LOCATIONS: OSWEGO, JEFFERSON AND LEWIS COUNTIES.

GREATEST AMOUNTS ACROSS HIGHER TERRAIN INLAND FROM LAKE ONTARIO.

ACCUMULATIONS: ADDITIONAL 4 TO 8 INCHES TODAY IN MOST LOCATIONS  AND UP TO ANOTHER 12 INCHES ON THE TUG HILL AND 1 TO 3 INCHES  TONIGHT IN PERSISTENT SNOWS.

WINDS: NORTHWEST 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 45 MPH PRODUCING SIGNIFICANT BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW.

VISIBILITIES: LESS THAN A QUARTER MILE AT TIMES.

IMPACTS: PERIODS OF HEAVY LAKE EFFECT SNOW AND SIGNIFICANT
BLOWING SNOW WILL RESULT IN SNOW COVERED ROADS AND VERY
DIFFICULT TRAVEL CONDITIONS.

THE COMBINATION OF SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW WILL RESULT IN NEAR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS AT TIMES. STRONG WINDS AND SNOW LOAD MAY BRING DOWN A FEW TREE LIMBS AND RESULT IN SCATTERED POWER OUTAGES.
