Clubs Now Offered at Granby Elementary

GRANBY, NY – Granby Elementary School students in grades three through six have been offered an opportunity to enhance their education by participation in one club of their choice.

Amy Kunzwiler, Granby’s School-Home Liaison, said students were surveyed during the 2015-2016 school year to see what offerings they would like for this school year’s pilot program.

“The main focus was for students to be more engaged in their learning and to increase attendance,” she said.

Kunzwiler said getting students more involved in their own education is the overall goal.

The children will gather at various locations throughout the building from 2:30 to 3:10 p.m. on the first and third Thursday of each month.

Clubs’ topics include: book, coding/digital photo editing, coloring and Zentangle, community project, competitive swim, cursive writing/board games, Maker Space, Scrabble/word wizard, sewing and craft, intramural, Lego, martial arts, yoga, art, band and orchestra.

If the clubs are successful this school year, Kunzwiler said the school may expand offerings to include younger students.
