FULTON – Following the CNY Arts Center’s live streaming event of the Tony Awards, the center will host Act II of its Dessert Theater series.
The series is celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Tony Awards and will feature a collaborated cast of children and adults to make this an evening of luscious desserts and entertainment that families can enjoy together.
The cast will perform Tony Award-winning Broadway songs from stage classics such as The Sound of Music, Annie, Into The Woods, Chicago and much more.
CNY Arts Center’s technical director Nick Pike said, “I chose ‘A Night at the Tonys’ for this year’s Dessert Series for several reasons: Previous Tony Award Winning Musicals have created staples within the world of Theatre. Their songs have lasted decades, are the most memorable, and are often the tunes that stay stuck in your head for hours. The Tonys appeal to generations both young and old, which I hope will bring fresh faces both on stage and in the seats of the center.”
Children will be taking on numbers that are challenging for most adult performers so that in itself is noteworthy, he added.
The event will be on July 23 with a later start time at 8:30 p.m., held at the Arts Center located at 11 River Glen Drive.
