FULTON, NY – A fresh coat of paint and grand plans for a busy summer of art experiences will be the spotlight of CNY Arts Center’s open house.
The event will take place July 1 from 2-6 p.m. at the Arts Center’s new location, the Park Street entrance of State Street United Methodist Church, 357 State St. in Fulton.
Eager to show off their new home, the public is invited to meet instructors, get a sneak peek at classes that will be offered and see samples of art work.
A week-long day camp is being planned for ages 7-18 and parents will receive information to register their children for camp during the open house.
Arty’s Day Camp, named for the group’s iconic logo character, will run July 16-20 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
“We’re planning a week of art fun for all interests and levels, with professional instructors in art, writing, theatre, and dance during the mornings, and afternoons opened to all pre-registered children for free lunch and fun art projects,” said Alice Lamb, day camp coordinator.
At the open house, the organization will also be recruiting teachers, technicians, actors, designers and volunteers for a variety of positions and accepting donations of art supplies, easels, chairs, light and sound equipment, building materials for sets, fabrics, yarn, office supplies, and similar items to help the group equip the center for accommodating a well-rounded arts program.
In addition to day camp, registration will be available for a new writing class with author, former paranormal investigator Carolyn Dougherty to run Thursday evenings July 19 – Aug. 23.
Additional art classes are being planned including a stained glass workshop on Aug. 11, and a debut theater production of Godspell in mid-August.
