FULTON, NY – With the old Nestles factory in the background and a beautiful sky overhead more than 700 shoppers attended the second annual Arts Market held recently in Fulton by CNY Arts Center.
With nearly 40 vendors set up, shoppers had a wide variety of handmade original art, gently used, recycled items and several food options to choose from.
Timed to coincide with Fulton’s city-wide yard sale the event returned this year after popular acclaim following its debut last year.
“This location proves to be a popular place for this type of event. It is easily accessible for vendors who can park behind their spaces and shoppers who can access the market from all sides,” said Kiley Casper, events coordinator. “It becomes truly a market atmosphere with more than hand-made art. With independent consultants and small businesses included it offered an eclectic trade show component as attendees learned about energy options alongside health and wellness and home party plans. And with the addition of two restaurant vendors and two new local food entrepreneurs, shoppers had a feast of options from flavored coffees to homemade sweets to burgers and Philly cheesesteak dinners.”
A day of surprises for the children included bubbles and sidewalk chalk art, with prizes for adults. Each vendor contributed a gift to fill one basket which was awarded to a single winner at the close of the day.
Carol Spaulding won the coveted prize valued at more than $200.
Not to be undone by a lack of electricity in the old parking lot, strolling minstrels Merry Mischief entertained the crowd. The popular minstrel duo created a lively atmosphere for the many vendors and volunteers.
“We couldn’t be happier with our second Annual Arts Market and are already discussing how we can make next year’s even better,” Casper said.
